Work is underway to bring public water access to more than 400 homes in western Boone County. Rural Water 3.0 is the latest effort from the Boone County Fiscal Court to offer safe, reliable public water to residents without access to waterlines. To date, Boone County has installed - or is in the process of installing - waterlines that will bring public water to more than 640 homes.

Nearly 30 streets were approved to receive waterlines by the Fiscal Court. Those streets have been broken into three groups to help expedite construction. Work now moves toward design and construction. Here is a quick update:

  • November/December 2024: Fiscal Court awarded contracts for design work.
  • Late Summer/Early Fall 2025: Construction contracts will be awarded.
    • Construction will kick off before the end of 2025.

Additional streets will be reviewed and recommended to the Fiscal Court by the end of the year. Those streets must then have at least 50% of homeowners commit to participate by placing an inital deposit with the Fiscal Court.

Rural Water 2.0, which will deliver water to up to 294 homes, is complete. Visit Rural Water 2.0 to learn more.
